Managing stress trying not to be overwhelmed…
Maybe it's an exam, an interview, or just your regular financial instabilities… How many emotions accompany such stressors, don't you think? The anxiety of “what if I cannot succeed”, the excitement of optimistic possibilities, the curiosity, hope, or excitement you feel about what will happen tomorrow... You may be experiencing such emotions and many more at different intensities, varying from hour to hour.
While experiencing all these emotions, perhaps there are some facts that would be good for you to remind yourself of. Shall we take a look together?
You're working towards your goals and trying to do your best. Yet, some things are out of your control. But you can try your best to make healthy choices for the coming days by keeping your calm. If you think that you have deficiencies, it is valuable to realize them. Only after discovering your deficiencies and the room for improvement, you can try to better yourself. Maybe you can reach your desired results by starting over once again!
No one setback can be a summary of your life. Does it feel right for you to reduce your whole life to one exam or an interview? It is only natural for you to wish for success. But even though you fail in one area of your life, you have many other valuable qualities and strengths.
One setback cannot be an accurate reflection of your level of success in life. Many emotions such as stress, excitement, and/or anxiety accompany us during important life events such as an exam, a presentation, or an interview. For this reason, while some of us go through these experiences more smoothly, some of us cannot fulfill our potential. For this reason, your success cannot be evaluated by looking at one single event. You need to look at the process as a whole.
Compare yourself only with yourself, not with others. We all have different skill sets and strengths. We all progress according to our own rhythm. Therefore, when you fail at something, focus on where you are today according to your own past performance rather than looking at what others have done.
While we are in the midst of all these emotions, we might need to remember a wise saying: Water will find its way. When we hear such words from others, it can make us even more angry. But try to look back, didn't the water flow and find its way at many moments in your life when you had difficulties and felt at a dead end?
Our best wishes are with you, dear Relater! We hope that you will reach the best of your dreams.
